An experimental nuclear physicist who coauthored the Wu experiment. Comparing beta decay from oriented cobalt-60 nuclei with the opposite orientation tested whether a mirror-reflected process would have the same probability. The observed directional asymmetry showed failure of parity conservation in the weak interaction.[ref]
