Aerodynamic stopping time ($\tau$)

The aerodynamic stopping time is the characteristic time on which drag force damps a solid particle's velocity relative to the surrounding fluid. Linear drag gives relative acceleration $-{\mathbf{v}}_{\mathrm{rel}}/\tau$.
