The Algol paradox is the apparently inconsistent evolutionary ordering in an Algol binary: the less massive star is more evolved, whereas higher-mass isolated main sequence stars normally exhaust core fuel sooner. Binary mass-ratio reversal resolves it by identifying the present donor as the initially more massive star.
