A spherical blackbody star emits Q(E0)=8π2Rs2(kTs)3F(E0/kTs)/(h3c2) photons per time above threshold E0. Integrating specific intensity over the outward hemisphere gives flux πBν; dividing the resulting spectral luminosity by photon energy and substituting x=hν/kTs proves the formula. The convergent series F(y)=∑m≥1e−my(y2/m+2y/m2+2/m3) follows by integrating the geometric-series expansion termwise.
