For a sheet moving with u(x,0)=αx through otherwise stationary fluid, the layer thickness is δ=ν/α. With
η=y/δ,ψ=αxδf(η),
(1)
the boundary-layer equations reduce to
f′′′+ff′′−(f′)2=0,f(0)=0,f′(0)=1,f′(∞)=0.
(2)
The exact solution is f=1−e−η.
