A recognition feature that helps target a protein for degradation. It may depend on sequence, conformation or a regulated modification rather than being permanently exposed.
A degron whose recognition depends on phosphorylation. Phosphorylation can thereby couple protein turnover to a regulatory signal; not every phosphorylated motif is a degradation signal.
