For κ>0, the Green function of Dx2−κ2 on (0,L) with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions is the displayed negative kernel. Here x<=min(x,ξ) and x>=max(x,ξ). The left and right homogeneous solutions are sinh(κx) and sinh(κ(L−x)), with Wronskian −κsinh(κL). The kernel is continuous and its first derivative jumps by +1, giving (Dx2−κ2)G=δ(x−ξ). Reversing the operator sign reverses the kernel sign.
