In the (A1,A2,A3,B) basis with gauge transformations U=eiαQ and Q=T3+Y, the non-Abelian connection transforms by conjugation. The Lie brackets [T3,T1]=iT2 and [T3,T2]=−iT1 give δA1=αA2, δA2=−αA1, with neutral A3,B. Thus δA=iαQgaugeA gives the displayed Hermitian matrix. The fields W±=(A1∓iA2)/2 transform as e±iαW±, while both neutral combinations are uncharged. This separates the Adjoint representation on the gauge fields from the doublet charge matrix diag(1,0) on the Higgs field.
