The energy form of the Gaussian number operator is the displayed squared derivative integral. Its form domain requires ∑n∣cn∣2<∞, while the full operator domain requires ∑n2∣cn∣2<∞. It can be defined by limt↓0t−1(∥f∥22−⟨f,Ptf⟩) even when Nf does not exist in L2. This energy occurs in the Gaussian Poincaré inequality and Gaussian logarithmic Sobolev inequality.
