For fluid velocity Ω(−x3,0,x1) and BΩ<1, the stable deterministic orientation is p=(−BΩ,0,1−B2Ω2). Once this orientation has relaxed, swimming at speed Vs shifts the centre of the circular material trajectories to (−Vs1−B2Ω2/Ω,−VsB) in the (x1,x3) plane. Its distance from the cylinder axis is Vs/Ω. General initial orientations produce an orientation transient before these circular paths.
