For utt−Δu+u3=0 in three spatial dimensions, conserved positive wave energy E controls ∥∇u∥2. The Sobolev inequality gives ∥u2∇u∥2≲∥∇u∥22∥D2u∥2≲E∥D2u∥2. Differentiated wave energy estimates and the Gronwall inequality then give ∥u(t)∥H˙2+∥ut(t)∥H˙1≤CDeCEt, where D bounds the corresponding initial Sobolev norms.
