If 1<p<n/α, the pointwise Hedberg inequality is
Iα∣f∣(x)≤Cn,p,α∥f∥pαp/n(Mf(x))1−αp/n.
(1)
Split the integral at radius r. Dyadic annuli bound the near part by CrαMf(x), while Hölder's inequality bounds the far part by C∥f∥prα−n/p. Choosing rn/p=∥f∥p/Mf(x) balances the terms.
