For a uniform planar lamina with ∣x1−sx2∣≤a and ∣x2∣≤b, put u=x1−sx2, v=x2. The Jacobian determinant is one, the mass is M=4abσ, and symmetry puts the centre of mass at zero. Uniform rectangular moments give ⟨u2⟩=a2/3, ⟨v2⟩=b2/3, ⟨uv⟩=0. Substitution into Iij=∫(∣x∣2δij−xixj)dm yields the displayed inertia tensor. The in-plane principal moments of inertia are M[a2+(1+s2)b2±(a2+(s2−1)b2)2+4s2b4]/6; the perpendicular moment is their sum. This separates the geometric shear from the elementary rectangular integrals.
