If the essential oscillation on concentric balls obeys ω(R/2)≤θω(R)+ARα with 0<θ<1 and α>0, dyadic iteration gives ω(r)≤Crμ for every 0<μ<min{α,−log2θ}. The resulting decay gives a Hölder continuous function. Taking the exponent strictly below both decay rates avoids a logarithmic factor when the rates coincide.
