For aout=αain+βbin† with real canonical coefficients, the inverse is ain=αaout−βbout†. The in-vacuum annihilation condition therefore has coefficient v=−β when written as (uaout+vbout†)∣0in⟩=0. Forward and inverse maps must not be confused.
