A subspace W of a symplectic vector space (V,Ω) is isotropic when Ω∣W×W​=0. It has at most half the dimension of V; equality makes it a Lagrangian subspace. This use of isotropic concerns an alternating bilinear form, rather than an isotropic quadratic form.
