The symplectic orthogonal complement of a subspace W is Wω={v:ω(v,w)=0 for every w∈W}. The nondegenerate bilinear form gives dimWω=dimV−dimW. An isotropic subspace of a symplectic vector space satisfies W⊂Wω; a Lagrangian subspace satisfies equality.
