Andrei Moroianu works in differential geometry, including Kähler geometry and geometric differential operators. His authored lectures develop the interaction of a Riemannian metric, a complex structure , and the associated Kähler form . For a Kähler manifold, the Levi-Civita connection preserves , linking the real and complex descriptions of curvature.[ref]
A concrete consequence is that the Ricci form represents the tangent First Chern class; prescribing Ricci curvature therefore has a topological constraint, not just a differential equation. His lectures explain the Kähler-Einstein metric equation and illustrate it on Complex projective space and Ricci-flat examples.[ref] His personal page identifies him as a CNRS research director.[ref]

Ricci form of a Kähler manifold Created 2026-09-24 Updated 2026-11-05
For a Kähler manifold, the Ricci form is the real -form
where is the Chern curvature of the holomorphic tangent bundle. The trace is essential when the complex dimension is greater than one: the full curvature is endomorphism-valued, whereas is an ordinary differential form. The local trace of Chern curvature identity gives the determinant formula.[ref]
Equivalently, , and . The Ricci form therefore expresses Ricci curvature in the language of the complex structure and represents the tangent First Chern class.
In complex dimension one, . A flat complex torus has . On Complex projective space with , the metric determinant is proportional to , so . This is a concrete positive Kähler-Einstein metric.
