For separately conserved pressureless matter, ρm∝a−3. The deceleration parameter identity H˙/H2=−(1+q) and Ωm∝ρm/H2 give Ω˙m=HΩm(2q−1). A dust-plus-vacuum universe has q=Ωm/2−ΩΛ; conversion to conformal time yields the displayed flow. The familiar matter-only equation requires negligible cosmological constant. In a spatially flat dust-plus-vacuum universe, Ωm+ΩΛ=1 and Ωm′=−3HΩmΩΛ, so flatness does not require Ωm=1.
