Mean-variance efficient ray
Let risky excess payoff have mean b and positive-definite covariance V. The minimum-variance portfolio with target excess expected wealth c is
θ=λV−1b,λ=bTV−1bc.
(1)
For constant absolute risk aversion utility with coefficient γ, the optimal Gaussian portfolio is θ=γ−1V−1b. The two choices coincide when γ=1/λ.
