Let X∗ have a norm-dense sequence (ϕm), and let B⊂X be norm-bounded. Then
d(x,y)=∑m=1∞2−m1+∣ϕm(x−y)∣∣ϕm(x−y)∣

is a metric on B that induces its weak topology. Density lets convergence against the ϕm extend uniformly on B−B to convergence against every ϕ∈X∗.
