For a weak, nearly static conformal factor in Nordstrom theory of gravitation, the trace of the dust stress-energy tensor is negative in signature (−+++), so its scalar field equation reduces to the Poisson equation for the Newtonian gravitational potential. The geodesic equation for a conformally flat metric gives x¨=−∇Φ at small speeds. The constant one in ϕ has no effect on the force.
