Suppose 1≤p<q<r<∞, ∥f∥p≤Cp, ∥f∥q≥Cq>0 and ∥f∥r≤Cr. Set ε=(Cqq/(2Cpp))1/(q−p). The part of ∫∣f∣q where ∣f∣≤ε is at most εq−pCpp=Cqq/2. On the complementary level set, the Holder inequality bounds the integral by Crqμ{∣f∣>ε}1−q/r, proving the bound. For r=∞ the bound becomes Cqq/(2Crq). The lower-exponent bound prevents spreading into low amplitudes, while the higher-exponent bound prevents concentration into arbitrarily narrow spikes.
