The ideal gas model takes the particles' own volume to be negligible compared with the container volume and neglects intermolecular interactions except during idealized elastic collisions. These assumptions remove excluded-volume and attractive-force corrections to the ideal gas law. A classical dilute gas also requires that quantum-statistical effects be negligible, but the first two are the requested mechanical assumptions.
