Represent each point by a nonzero column vi. The source's cross-ratio is
det(v1,v4)det(v2,v3)det(v1,v3)det(v2,v4).

Rescaling representatives cancels between numerator and denominator. If the projective transformation is represented by A∈GL2(C), then det(Avi,Avj)=det(A)det(vi,vj). Two factors of det(A) occur in both numerator and denominator and cancel. Hence the cross-ratio is invariant under every projective transformation.
