The authoritative definition here is Yn=∣Xn∣. On the conditioning event, Xn−1=0. Since p0,1=0, the additional condition Yn=1 then forces Xn=−1. The Markov property therefore gives
P(Yn+1=0∣Yn=1,Yn−1=0)=p−1,0.
(1)
As usual, this conditional probability is asserted when the conditioning event has positive probability.
