A function f:E→R is continuous on E if it is continuous at every p∈E, meaning
∀p∈E ∀ε>0 ∃δ>0 ∀x∈E:∣x−p∣<δ ⟹ ∣f(x)−f(p)∣<ε.
(1)
The function has uniform continuity on E when
∀ε>0 ∃δ>0 ∀x,y∈E:∣x−y∣<δ ⟹ ∣f(x)−f(y)∣<ε.
(2)
For continuity, δ may depend on both p and ε. For uniform continuity, one δ must work for every pair of points in E.
