Set p=3 and x=0 in the Fourier series from b. Since the function is continuous there, pointwise convergence of a piecewise smooth Fourier series gives
0=31−61−6∑n≥1n=3n2−9(−1)n.
(1)
It follows that
∑n≥1n=3n2−9(−1)n=361.
(2)
The n=1 and n=2 terms are 1/8 and −1/5, respectively. Subtracting them gives the required absolutely convergent series:
n=4∑∞n2−9(−1)n=361−81+51=36037.
