The sequence of functions (fn) converges uniformly to f on E if
∀ε>0 ∃N ∀n≥N ∀x∈E:∣fn(x)−f(x)∣<ε.
(1)
The same N must work for every x. Equivalently, the supremum norm of fn−f tends to zero. This is stronger than pointwise convergence, where N may depend on x.
