. The constant Fourier coefficient is

\int_{0}^{a} x cos (n x) d x \int_{a}^{π} a cos (n x) d x = \frac{a sin ( na )}{n} + \frac{cos ( na ) - 1}{n ^{2}}, = - \frac{a sin ( na )}{n} .

The

terms cancel. Thus

a_{n} = \frac{2}{π n ^{2}} (cos \frac{nπ}{2} - 1), f (x) = \frac{3 π}{8} + \frac{2}{π} n = 1 \sum \infty \frac{cos ( nπ /2 ) - 1}{n ^{2}} cos (n x) (0 \leq x \leq π) .

This Fourier cosine series has
