Let D=Nˉ−1∂t and Πˉ=Dϕˉ. For negative-expansion extrinsic curvature of a spatial hypersurface, its trace perturbation is κ. With δΠ=Dδϕ−ΠˉΨ, scalar evolution is DδΠ−ΨDΠˉ+3HδΠ−κΠˉ−Δδϕ+V,ϕϕδϕ=0. Combining background acceleration terms produces the standard lapse source −Πˉ(κ+DΨ−3HΨ)+2ΨV,ϕ.
