If otherwise comparable isolated planets of one mass follow Lint=Ct−α, their intrinsic luminosity ratio is Lint(t1)/Lint(t2)=(t2/t1)α. The normalization depends on composition and initial entropy. Strong stellar irradiation, deep heating, or accretion can invalidate extrapolating the same cooling law.
