For a zero-mean stationary velocity process of variance σv2 and normalized autocorrelation (1+∣s∣)−α, integrating velocity twice gives the displayed expression, exactly rather than just asymptotically. For α>1 the long-time diffusion coefficient is σv2/(α−1). At α=1, the displacement variance is asymptotic to 2σv2tlogt. For 0<α<1, it is asymptotic to 2σv2t2−α/[(1−α)(2−α)]. Linear variance growth does not by itself imply a central limit theorem or a normal distribution for displacement.
