Preferred longitude of an unknot

The exterior of an unknot is a solid torus. Inclusion of its boundary kills exactly the primitive Seifert longitude, so every essential simple closed curve bounding a disk in that exterior is isotopic, as an unoriented curve, to that longitude. The bounding disk need not avoid other link components.
