For any real design matrix X and λ>0, (XTX+λI)−1XT=XT(XXT+λI)−1. Multiplication by X identifies the primal ridge regression fitted values with K(K+λI)−1Y, K=XXT, the kernel-ridge hat matrix for the linear kernel. No rank assumption is needed.
