For a quantum channel on a d≥2 dimensional system, purify the input to ∣Ψ⟩QR and set σ=(N⊗id)(∣Ψ⟩⟨Ψ∣). Its entanglement fidelity Fe=⟨Ψ∣σ∣Ψ⟩ satisfies S(σ)≤h(Fe)+(1−Fe)log2(d2−1). This is the entropy bound from overlap with a pure state in dimension d2. For a trivial one-dimensional system the output entropy is zero.
