In L=Q2(2), set π=2 and normalize vL(π)=1, so vL(2)=2. The two terms of a+bπ have valuations of opposite parity, giving OL=Z2⊕Z2π. The nonidentity automorphism sends π to −π, and vL(−2π)=3. The lower ramification numbering therefore gives the displayed groups. The different exponent is three.
