A lower ray reaches H after τ1=H/[U1sinθ1cosθ1], at xH=Hcotθ1. Conserved horizontal wavenumber gives cosθ2=(U2N1/U1N2)cosθ1. The transmitted front is (xH,H)+(t−τ1)cg2 on propagating branches; reflection reverses the vertical group velocity.
