Stable sorting preserves the original relative order of entries with equal keys. The entries may carry different names or other information even when their keys coincide. For example, sorting records by the numerical key gives : Ada remains before Cy. This is useful when a previous ordering contains information worth retaining, such as arrival order among equally ranked requests.
