For X−X∞=c/r, subtracting the planar D3-brane energy leaves T3∫∣∇X∣2d3x=4πT3c2/r0 outside a cutoff. Since Xcut−X∞=c/r0, its coefficient is the carried string tension. Electric charge quantization gives c=πgs∣N∣α′ and coefficient ∣N∣TF1; magnetic charge gives c=π∣N∣α′ and coefficient ∣N∣TD1.
