With a Lagrangian subspace first in a paired symplectic basis, its stabilizer consists of (A0ASA−T) with S symmetric. The additive symmetric-matrix unipotent radical has order qm(m+1)/2; the Levi subgroup is GLm(q), acting by S↦ASAT. Its index in Sp2m(q) is ∏i=1m(qi+1), the number of Lagrangian subspaces.
