The rest mass of a stable soliton is the lowest energy in its topological sector minus the vacuum energy, in the infinite-volume limit. If Euclidean kernels KQ(τ) have nonzero overlap with the sector's lowest-energy states, then M=−limτ→∞τ−1log[K1(τ)/K0(τ)], followed by the infinite-volume limit. A Euclidean path integral represents these kernels, with boundary wavefunctionals included if necessary.
