Vertex renormalization ($Z_1$)

Multiplicative adjustment of an interaction vertex to cancel its ultraviolet divergence. In scalar electrodynamics, write the one-photon two-scalar field coefficient as $Z_{1}e$ and the scalar kinetic coefficient as $Z_2$. The scalar QED Ward identity gives $Z_1=Z_2$ in a symmetry-preserving renormalization scheme.
