 Frobenius theorem

For a nowhere-zero one-form $\alpha$, the hyperplane distribution $\ker \alpha$ is tangent to hypersurfaces exactly when $\alpha \wedge d\alpha =0$. In relativity this characterizes hypersurface-orthogonal vector fields and implies vanishing twist.
