Attribution of recent climate change assesses the contributions of anthropogenic forcing, natural forcing and internal variability to observed changes. It combines the physics of radiative transfer, measured forcing agents, energy budgets and spatial, vertical and temporal response patterns. A single weather event or a single trend is insufficient by itself to identify all causes.
