For y>0, the Box–Cox transformation is
Tλ​(y)={(yλ−1)/λ,logy,​λ=0,λ=0.​

The value of λ can be selected by maximizing its profile likelihood; λ=1 corresponds to an affine transformation of the original response, while λ=0 gives a logarithmic transformation.
