The characteristic admittance of an arterial wave relates the volumetric flow rate of a travelling arterial pressure wave to its pressure. For forward and backward amplitudes, p=p++p− and q=Y(p+−p−). It is the reciprocal of characteristic pressure-to-flow impedance, and should not be confused with the reciprocal hydraulic resistance of a steadily resistive segment.
