For H(σ)=∑xyJxyσxσy+∑xhxσx on a finite graph, assume Jxy≥0. Let U={x:σx=1,τx=−1} and W={x:σx=−1,τx=1}. The displayed difference is 4∑xy:x∈U,y∈W or converselyJxy: all other edge terms and all field terms cancel. Exponentiating proves the FKG lattice condition and hence positive association of random variables for this Ising model.
