If sub-sigma-algebras $\mathcal{G}$ and $\mathcal{H}$ are independent, every event in $\mathcal{G}\cap \mathcal{H}$ is independent of itself and consequently has probability zero or one. Thusalmost surely for every integrable random variable $X$.
