For two free real scalar fields, the internal rotation δϕ1=θϕ2, δϕ2=−θϕ1 is a symmetry precisely when their squared masses agree. Its Noether current is jμ=ϕ2∂μϕ1−ϕ1∂μϕ2. Without mass degeneracy, ∂μjμ=(m22−m12)ϕ1ϕ2.
